On October 10, Blackhawk students attended an International Diplomacy Simulation sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

Led by veteran foreign service officer Dale Giovengo, the students represented the Foreign Ministry of Malil, a fictional country embroiled in a refugee crisis.

Working with nations and organizations represented by other Beaver County schools, Blackhawk’s diplomatic team negotiated a real-world solution to a simulated border dispute.

“I learned a lot about talking, disagreeing, then compromising on a subject with people that I hadn’t met prior to the simulation,” said Noel Shackelford ’23.

Following the exercise, Mr. Giovengo led a debriefing session and evaluated each stakeholder’s methods and outcome.
